John Morton (Dartmouth Nordic Ski Coach & two-time Olympian) and Tim Beck (Dartmouth Ski Coach and ski mountain developer) share stories from the history of skiing. 60 minutes with lunch to follow. Free and open to the public – please RSVP below.
Join local skiing heroes Tim Beck and John Morton for a behind-the-scenes look at the last 40 years of the ski industry. Active local seniors and former Dartmouth Ski Team coaches, Beck and Morton started out as athletes, moving through coaching into design and development of the ski industry.
Seven-time Olympian Morton was inducted into the US Biathlon Association Hall of Fame in 2008, and in the same year was recognized by Forbes magazine as an ‘Olympic Entrepreneur’ for founding and running trail design company ‘Morton Trails’.
Beck was appointed President of Sno Engineering in 1991 (renamed SE Group), an organization devoted to industry-leading winter resort design. SE Group provided planning for the 2002 and 2010 Winer Olympics, and has recently expanded its focus to offer outdoor leisure, rural lifestyle and tourism consultancy.
Between them, Beck and Morton will explore the roles that Vermont, New Hampshire and Dartmouth have played in shaping the ski industry, from an athletic and commercial perspective. The discussion will be moderated by US Masters Alpine ski racer Byron Hathorn.
Please RSVP so we know to expect you.
