The transition to assisted living offers an abundance of opportunities to make your life as active as you want it to be! Your days can be full of cultural activities, outings in the community, and quiet moments with friends. Participation is entirely up to you, but if you want to keep busy, there’s plenty to do in our community. Here are just a few examples:
1) Volunteering and Field Trips
Explore the community! Visiting with people and animals does the heart good. Combining your skills with your generosity and interest in others can lead to a robust schedule of events that both inspire and fulfill you. And we’ll help make that happen and align your interests with external opportunities to stay an engaged and vital member of the larger community.

2) Storytelling & Creative Writing
Storytelling is a part of the human condition – and as we age, it may also be one of the most effective ways to activate our brains and keep them agile. Think about all of the experiences that you have had over your life. Surely there are some that your loved ones haven’t heard fully, or perhaps some you’ve forgotten about yourself. Now is the time to write them down.
3) Working Out
Keeping yourself physically active has measurable benefits for the body and soul.
Work out with us in our gym where staff can assist you and customize your exercise program. Take a weekly Tai Chi class with us, or get outside and sink a putt! We can help design a program that fits your own interests. Joining a regular walking group is a great way to socialize while moving your body, and provides a routine to build your week around.
4) Making Art
Even if you’ve never considered yourself an artist before, this time of your life offers a chance to experiment with art in ways you may have not had time to pursue in the past. You could learn to paint with watercolors in the art studio, or try your hand at crafts that could become seasonal decorations or gifts for friends.
5) Spa Day
You do not have to go far to treat yourself to some pampering in the salon! We offer full salon and spa services including manicure, pedicure, facials, massage and, of course any hair styling services you want!
6) Gardening
Gardening is an activity that we can enjoy at any age, and our raised beds make access easier to care for plants and get your hands in the soil.
7) Movie Night
Our in-house movie theater provides a great communal space to share the experience of cinema with residents, or you can head out to the movies for a night on the town with friends. With our large screen, surround sound with specialized communication direct to hearing aids and comfy seats – all you need to do is pick-up your popcorn at the door and enjoy!
8) Book Club
Historical fiction, sci-fi, romance, biographies — explore all your favorite genres with other insightful readers. Book clubs nurture social connection and conversation about reading, and provide inspiration to explore works by different authors. The Village Landmark Library is a fantastic place to spend an afternoon surrounded by books and book-loving friends.
9) Cooking
If you have an interest in cooking you can enjoy demonstration cooking classes led by our in-house and special guest chefs – or gather with friends and family to make a special meal together either cooked together prepared by our chef.
10) Live Theater
Located directly next door to the nationally acclaimed theater company Northern Stage, you’ll have many opportunities to enjoy professional productions of world premiers, classics, and musicals both in our community or right across the street.
